Deutsche Börse selects Google Cloud to underpin digital asset business

Deutsche Borse has chosen Google Cloud to provide the backbone of a new digital asset trading platform that aims to establish an institutional-grade ecosystem for cryptocurrency trading.

Under the agreement, Google Cloud will become Deutsche Börse Group’s preferred partner for cloud consumption over the next ten years, with a focus on driving the development of the Fellowship DLT D7 digital securities platform.

The D7 Platform will be built on top of Google Cloud’s secure infrastructure and will feature an intelligent data analytics layer through the Google Cloud BigQuery and Analytics Center.

The partnership also aims to innovate Deutsche Börse Group’s digital asset business with institutional-grade services, including a digital asset trading platform with a market infrastructure based on the cloud, which combines centralized and decentralized financial infrastructure to provide derivatives and cryptocurrency products. The German exchange said it aims to expand these capabilities to other asset classes over time. In addition, the two companies plan to jointly deploy data grids for several use cases and distribute Deutsche Börse Group data in the cloud.

“Our partnership with Deutsche Börse Group underscores the wide range of opportunities and benefits that secure and reliable cloud technology, data analytics, and AI can have for all market participants.”
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.
