ArmourZero lands investment from Gobi Partners to simplify cybersecurity for businesses

Gobi Partners, a leading venture capital firm in Asia, has invested in ArmourZero, a cloud-based cybersecurity company specialising in AI-driven Application Security and Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS).

The investment was made through the Gobi Dana Impak Ventures (GDIV) fund, backed by Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

The funding amount has not been disclosed.

Founded in 2022, ArmourZero officially launched operations in January 2023 and operates subsidiaries in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. The company was co-founded by cybersecurity expert Tho Kit Hoong and technology entrepreneur Chong Wai Lun. It aims to address the security needs of software developers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

ArmourZero’s cybersecurity platform is designed to help businesses mitigate cyber threats by providing integrated security solutions. Its flagship product, ShieldOne, offers unified threat monitoring, management, and response by consolidating endpoint security, email protection, and patch management into a single platform.

Additionally, its Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service ensures real-time threat detection and proactive incident management at a cost-effective rate. The company’s ScoutTwo solution focuses on AI-powered application security, detecting vulnerabilities in web and mobile applications and offering automated remediation.

With this new investment, ArmourZero plans to expand its product offerings and strengthen its presence across Southeast Asia.

The cybersecurity market in Southeast Asia is projected to grow from $35bn in 2023 to $84bn by 2028, driven by an increase in cyber threats and rapid digital transformation, Gobi claims. SMEs, which account for 99% of businesses in Malaysia, face significant cybersecurity risks due to resource constraints. ArmourZero’s solutions seek to bridge this gap, helping SMEs enhance their cyber resilience and mitigate financial losses linked to cyberattacks.

ArmourZero CEO and co-founder Tho Kit Hoong said, “Our goal is to redefine cybersecurity by making it simpler and more accessible for businesses of all sizes to defend against cyber threats. This investment accelerates our innovation and strengthens our commitment to provide powerful, AI-driven security solutions that simplify cybersecurity and eliminate complexity.”

Gobi Partners managing partner Jamaludin Bujang added, “ArmourZero is tackling a critical issue by making cybersecurity accessible for business and digital applications, as well as SMEs a vital segment that drives economic growth yet remains underserved in digital protection. Their innovative platform and leadership team embody Gobi’s vision of supporting startups that deliver meaningful impact.”
